Grab the die-cast metal handle and pull it across. That first pull is usually where people stop asking questions. Let go and the built-in speed reducer walks it back into the cassette, no bang, no snap back at your knuckles. The magnets that hold it open are sealed inside the frame and the screw heads are capped, so there's no hardware sitting out in the sun going chalky. The back of the cassette is closed too, which matters more than it sounds: an open-back housing collects dust, and then you're looking at a dirty roll of mesh every time you walk past.
Every unit gets measured to a sixteenth of an inch and built for that one opening at our California factory. We make these, so take the enthusiasm with a grain of salt, but the specifics hold up. Frame is 6063-T6 extruded aluminum, cut first and powder-coated after, so there's no bare edge where the saw went through. Non-metal parts are glass-filled D66 nylon, not the brittle plastic that yellows and cracks. The mesh is our own stiff fiberglass, stiffer than standard window screen and close to invisible in daylight. Limited lifetime warranty on the mesh, the mechanism, and every piece of hardware, and fewer than 2% of everything we've installed has ever needed a service call.
The sliding screen that came with your patio door was designed in the seventies, and it hasn't improved since. It jumps the track. The mesh goes slack in the corners. The bottom channel fills with grit until it's a real trip hazard, and the frame sits in your view whether the door is open or not. Two doors, one wide opening, and every bug in the yard treating it like a front gate. We put a screen on each side that retracts on its own, so you can pin one and leave the other free. Inswing or outswing both work. For a single screen across the whole opening, the long-pull setup covers up to 65 inches.

Your slider already moves. The screen shouldn't fight it. Ours runs on a top and bottom track and rolls back into a side cassette when you're done, up to 98 inches tall. It doesn't jam, sag, or come off the track. The same system handles bifold and multi-slide openings, which is most of what's going into the newer builds around Tustin Ranch and Yorba Linda.

This one pulls across when you want the air moving through the house and vanishes into a slim cassette when you don't. No second door on the entry.
