A homeowner in Anaheim needed a screen solution for an existing sliding door that was open to insects with no good option in place. The goal was fresh air without the clutter of a fixed screen or the frustration of one that sticks — see our retractable screen door page for full specs.

The unit was custom fit to the sliding door within one-sixteenth of an inch, so the housing sits flush and the screen travels the full opening without binding. Nearly invisible stiff mesh keeps the sightline clean. A slow-close speed reducer was included so the screen settles quietly instead of slamming. All-metal ergonomic handles give it the kind of weight that matches a well-built door.

When not in use, the screen retracts fully out of sight. The existing slider works exactly as it did before, just with the option to let air in without letting insects through.
