A Back Door Screen That Solved The Bug Problem In Palm Springs

A homeowner in La Quinta had been keeping their back door closed through the desert heat because opening it meant bugs inside. A retractable screen door was fitted to the existing opening, sized to within one-sixteenth of an inch, and built in white to match the door.

The screen deploys when they want cross-ventilation and retracts completely out of sight when they are bringing in groceries or entertaining. No hardware visible on the door frame when it is not in use. The nearly invisible mesh handles the insects without blocking airflow or the sightline to the backyard.
